FigureFan Zero

Pardon me for jumping back and forth between the Series 1 and 2 this week, but I’m a little pressed for time today and given his simple character design, Dr. Manhattan seemed like someone that I could get through quicker than the other figures in the line. Manhattan was certainly one of the more challenging elements in bringing Watchmen from comic to film, and I was overall pleased with his on screen portrayal by Billy Crudup, so let’s see how his figure turned out.

Once again, the packaging is awesome. It oozes the presentation direction of the movie, the deco looks amazing and the window displays the figure very well, while also concealing all the extra stuff (i.e. creepy extra set of blue dismembered legs) down at the bottom and out of sight. The downside of Manhattan’s package is that his figure stand is actually secured to the back insert…

Unboxing S.H. Figuarts Red Hawk

If you ever consider collecting action figures just check how easy it can be at http://www.collecty.net

Fans of Japanese super heroes like the Super Sentai or Kamen Rider franchises are often treated with great toys for the adults who never quite grow up. My latest example of such is the S.H. Figuarts release of Red Hawk, the stalwart leader of the 1991 Super Sentai series Choujin Sentai Jetman. Jetman is one of my favorite series (you can read my review of the series here), and while my favorite ranger from that series is actually Gai Yuuki, the Black Condor, I prefer Ryū Tendo’s Red Hawk for this figure’s sake due to color aesthetic and availability.

I have to give a shout out to The Great Escape – Madison in Madison, TN for having this guy. This branch of Great Escape often has some good toy selection, in addition to some good deals on used trades and movies. I recommend anyone in the…

Star Wars Rooms – Collection Showcase

If you ever consider collecting Star Wars memorabilia just check how easy it can be at http://www.collecty.net

Kristy's Star Wars Friday

This week in Star Wars Room we take a look into my friend Mike Benson’s collection! He started collecting Star Wars toys in the early 80’s but, he really started collecting in the late 90’s. His favorite items in his collection is a Master Replica Boba Fett Helmet and his vintage Kenner Boba Fett from his childhood.

What he would really love to add to his collection is a prototype rocket Fett. Which in my opinion would be AWESOME! Put that on your list for Santa Mike. 😉

Mike also provided some tips for people who have just started collecting:

  • Set a budget. It’s easy to get carried away and want everything you see. Some ways to combat that are to find a focus, like a character, a theme, etc,
  • Learn to be selective. Whether you’re standing in the toy aisle of your local Walmart, or browsing Ebay, you don’t need to…

The most ridiculously expensive gaming replica figures

If you ever consider collecting dolls just check how easy it can be at http://www.collecty.net

Gaming Kick

Fans of one of today’s popular gaming series can pretty much guarantee they can find relevant replica figures across online stores and in specific street shops even, if you happen to be interested.

While a lot of these figures are fairly basic and can be bought for under £20 each, there are some insanely detailed alternatives available to buy, albeit from niche manufacturers who will sell their work for rather crazy prices.

To get the best quality gaming action figures on offer, you’ve got to have plenty of disposable income available and perhaps be somewhat unhinged, before you even contemplate ordering one of them. Here are just five incredible examples of ridiculously expensive gaming replica figures you can order online. (Not including life-size statues)

Kasumi – Dead or Alive Xtreme 2

Manufacturer: Kotobukiya

Price: £213.72 (on amazon.co.uk)

There are a (alarmingly) high number of both expensive and unquestionably ridiculous figures…
